How it works
ProjectDirect helps you find and compare contractors by their track record, then contact them directly. We don’t manage projects or sell your information.
1. We collect permit filings. We gather building, electrical, plumbing, gas and other permits from town permit systems and sort them by the contractor named on each one. We started with Falmouth, have added Bourne, and are adding more towns.
2. We match names carefully. “J. Smith,” “John Smith” and “Smith Plumbing” might be one contractor. We merge names only with supporting evidence and keep notes on every match.
3. We verify licenses cautiously. We show a state license as verified only when one active license clearly matches the contractor. If we aren’t sure, we don’t show it.
4. We organize the activity. Each profile shows permits by month, by town and by project type. Leaderboards rank contractors within a trade by permit volume.
What permit activity tells you. Steady permit activity means a contractor keeps getting hired, which can suggest experience and a real presence in your area. It doesn’t show whether a job was finished, passed final inspection, or how customers felt about it. Ask for references, too.
Featured placements. Contractors may pay to be featured in clearly labeled boxes. Paying never changes a rank or a permit count.
